Congressman Addison McDowell, who represents North Carolina’s 6th congressional district, shared a series of updates on social media highlighting recent policy developments and local events.
On August 15, 2025, McDowell commented on federal efforts to address border security and combat organized crime. He stated, “President Trump made history designating the Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations, and he’s sealed our southern border. Now we must protect our shores. The @USCG is on the front lines, and we’re giving them the resources to keep America safe.”
Later that day, McDowell reported from Salisbury about a demonstration by emergency responders. In his post dated August 15, 2025, he wrote: “Stopped in Salisbury for a demonstration of a simulated rescue by the Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team. These guys are serious professionals, and they helped save hundreds of lives during Hurricane Helene. Proud to have them here in NC-06!”
On August 16, 2025, McDowell referenced legislative achievements in Congress with another update: “With the One Big Beautiful Bill, we’re keeping our promises and delivering wins, cutting taxes, securing the border, and delivering real results for North Carolina.”
The designation of Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations marks a significant shift in U.S. policy toward transnational criminal groups. This move aims to expand law enforcement tools available for disrupting cartel operations at home and abroad.
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), mentioned by McDowell as being “on the front lines,” plays a key role in maritime security operations along American coastlines.
Salisbury’s Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team has been recognized for its work during past natural disasters such as Hurricane Helene—a storm that caused widespread flooding and required extensive rescue efforts across affected regions.
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” referenced by McDowell is part of ongoing legislative initiatives aimed at tax reform and border security measures—issues that have remained central topics in recent congressional sessions.
