Congressman Addison McDowell, who represents North Carolina’s 6th congressional district, recently highlighted local community efforts and national policy developments in a series of posts on his official X account.
On August 16, McDowell visited a regional food aid organization, stating: “Great meeting with the Second Harvest Food Bank in Thomasville to learn firsthand the impact they have on taking on the root cause of food insecurity. Thanks to the whole team and all the volunteers for their tireless efforts!” The Second Harvest Food Bank serves communities across northwestern North Carolina by distributing food to those in need and addressing underlying causes of hunger.
Later that day, McDowell addressed improvements at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under former President Donald Trump’s administration. He wrote: “President Trump is delivering for our Veterans! The VA is making major improvements, and the backlog is down 37% under his watch. Over 2.5 million claims have been processed, more than ever before. America First “ These remarks come as veterans’ groups and government reports have tracked ongoing efforts to reduce claim backlogs and improve services for veterans nationwide.
On August 17, McDowell congratulated NASCAR driver Austin Dillon following a racing victory: “Congrats to @austindillon3 in the number 3 car on a huge win yesterday at Richmond. Dillion, Richard Childress, and the rest of @RCRracing make Davidson County proud!” Austin Dillon competes for Richard Childress Racing (RCR), an organization based in Welcome, North Carolina—part of Davidson County—highlighting local ties to national sports achievements.
North Carolina’s 6th congressional district includes portions of Davidson County as well as other central counties in the state.
