The Carolina University Bruins Softball team lost both games of a non-conference doubleheader against Montreat College on April 11, according to a statement released April 12. The games were played at Roxy Hines Field in Black Mountain, North Carolina.

In the first game, Nathaly Ochoa scored after a leadoff single and Emma-Lea Cabral drove her in with an RBI single. The team added another run in the third inning but could not keep up with Montreat’s offense, which scored 14 runs between the second and fourth innings for a 15-2 win. Madison Hamilton took the loss as pitcher while Anni Bergmeier and Ellie Haas pitched relief innings.
The second game saw Carolina collect seven hits and score runs across three different innings. Madison Hamilton had an RBI single in the second inning. Despite these efforts, Montreat maintained offensive pressure for a final score of 12-4. Chloe Herbster started as pitcher and took the loss, with Hamilton pitching relief.
Interim Head Coach Danielle Brooks said: “We faced a tough opponent today, but there were still positives we can build on. I was proud of the way we continued to compete at the plate and create opportunities offensively. We’ll focus on tightening things up defensively and in the circle as we prepare for Monday.”
