U.S. Senator Ted Budd from North Carolina announced his support for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a piece of legislation introduced by President Trump aimed at reducing taxes and enhancing economic growth. The senator expressed his approval following a vote in favor of the bill, highlighting its potential benefits for North Carolinians.

Senator Budd stated, “I voted in favor of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act because the people of North Carolina deserve more of their hard-earned wages, a more secure border, a reinvigorated military, responsible spending reforms for government programs, and a thriving economy.” He emphasized that efforts were made to protect local tobacco growers and included provisions like his PELL Act to aid Americans in obtaining career-relevant credentials.

The bill proposes several measures intended to provide tax relief and stimulate economic growth. It aims to extend elements from President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, preventing what is described as potentially the largest tax increase in U.S. history. Families are expected to benefit through increased child tax credits and enhanced savings accounts.

In addition to personal tax cuts, the legislation seeks to bolster workforce development by expanding Pell Grant eligibility for short-term programs that align with industry needs. This is anticipated to enhance career opportunities while supplying businesses with skilled workers.

For North Carolina’s agricultural sector, particularly tobacco growers, the act ensures continued eligibility for duty drawbacks on exports. The bill also raises exemptions on death taxes to help preserve family farms across generations.

Manufacturing is another focus area within the act. By allowing full expensing for new factories and equipment investments, it aims to foster job creation within this sector. Small businesses could see benefits from permanent deductions on equipment and property investments.

On national defense, funding has been secured for projects such as boosting manufacturing capacity for F-15 aircraft at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and enhancing air superiority capabilities. Additionally, improvements in housing and facilities at Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune are planned under this legislation.

Border security measures include hiring additional Border Patrol agents and completing sections of President Trump’s border wall project. The bill also supports technological advancements like air traffic control modernization at the FAA and expands spectrum availability for wireless technologies.

Senator Budd expressed hope that his colleagues would expedite moving this bill forward: “I hope my colleagues in the House quickly get this bill on President Trump’s desk because Americans cannot afford the largest tax increase in our nation’s history.”
