Senator Ted Budd, representing North Carolina in the U.S. Senate, addressed several issues of national and regional importance in a series of posts on November 4 and 5, 2025.
In one post dated November 4, Budd emphasized his commitment to supporting Western North Carolina through federal funding. He stated, “I remain very willing to use every lever of power I have as a U.S. Senator to ensure Western North Carolina is made whole and that federal funds are approved and disbursed on a rolling basis into the future.”
On the same day, Budd commented on the challenges faced by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), as well as legal issues confronting immigration law enforcement efforts. He wrote, “In light of the unprecedented threats against the brave men and women of ICE and CBP, as well as the near constant legal challenges to @POTUS’s efforts to enforce America’s immigration laws, I agree that ensuring DHS has strong legal representation is critical.”
A later post on November 5 referenced developments in an international hostage case involving Hamas. Budd said, “The remains of the last American hostage, Itay Chen, have finally been returned by Hamas, and he will finally be laid to rest. My prayers are with Itay’s loved ones as they mourn their immeasurable loss. Thank you, @POTUS, for your unwavering leadership and tireless efforts to https://t.co/KCDPeAr6nE”
Senator Budd’s remarks reflect ongoing federal engagement with regional disaster recovery in North Carolina—a region that has previously required significant federal support following natural disasters—and broader national debates over border security policy. The mention of Itay Chen’s return comes amid ongoing international negotiations related to hostages held by Hamas.
