Senator Ted Budd, representing North Carolina in the U.S. Senate, recently shared updates on his official X account regarding his work on international religious freedom and legislative efforts to safeguard fundamental rights.
On July 17, 2025, Senator Budd highlighted a meeting with members of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). In his post, he stated: “Enjoyed meeting with the @USCIRF this week, including Chair Hartzler, my former House colleague. I look forward to working with the commission and @StateDept to support international religious freedom around the world.”
The following day, July 18, 2025, Senator Budd posted a tweet containing only a link: “https://t.co/OBgxMMZlrM”.
Later on July 18, Senator Budd addressed concerns about protecting constitutional rights in another post. He wrote: “We should ALWAYS preserve & protect the fundamental rights to freedom of speech & freedom of assembly. My FRONT Act will do just that, by bringing much-needed transparency to foreign adversaries bankrolling protests across our country & interfering in our democratic process.”
Senator Budd has previously advocated for policies focused on national security and individual liberties during his tenure in Congress. The USCIRF is an independent body that monitors violations of religious freedom internationally and provides policy recommendations to the U.S. government. Recent discussions in Congress have centered around concerns about foreign influence in domestic affairs and efforts to enhance transparency related to protest activities and funding sources.
