Senator Ted Budd addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on July 24, 2025. Budd, who represents North Carolina in the U.S. Senate, discussed small business concerns, national security priorities related to Special Operations Forces, and federal workforce decentralization.
In his first post of the day, Budd highlighted engagement with constituents: “Great to speak with North Carolinians about the issues facing our small businesses & communities at #CarolinaCoffee.” (July 24, 2025).
Later that afternoon, he commented on U.S. military strategy: “U.S. Special Operations Forces have spent the last two decades focused on counter terrorism but their roots are in irregular warfare and great power competition. We need more Special Operations Forces to deter China, not fewer.” (July 24, 2025).
That evening, Budd turned attention to federal workforce policies: “Federal bureaucrats have become detached from the Americans they’re supposed to serve. I applaud @SecRollins for shifting workers from DC to regional hubs, including Raleigh, NC. Bringing @USDA closer to farms will improve policies & benefit NC’s #1 industry—agriculture.” (July 24, 2025).
North Carolina’s agricultural sector is a significant contributor to the state’s economy and remains its largest industry by revenue and employment. Recent years have seen efforts by some federal agencies—including the U.S. Department of Agriculture—to relocate employees outside Washington D.C., aiming to bring decision-makers closer to local communities and industries they serve.
