State Rep. Steve Jarvis (R-Lexington) joined Montgomery County in mourning a sheriff’s deputy and school resource officer who died from COVID-19.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and SRO Sypraseuth “Bud” Phouangphrachanh died on March 31, WSOCTV reported April 1. He leaves behind a wife and five children.
“My prayers go out to the family and friends of Bud Phouang SRO Dare Officer.” Jarvis said on Facebook. “This is a devastating loss for Montgomery County. He fought hard against the unknowns of COVID 19.”
Phouangphrachanh was a 14-year veteran of the MCSO and was a Candor police officer, Montgomery County Sheriff Chris Watkins said in a statement. Watkins praised the 43-year-old Phouangphrachanh as a man “known for his big smile, sense of humor and laughter” who was passionately devoted to his role as an SRO.
Local law enforcement agencies offered their condolences to the MCSO and their tributes to “Deputy Bud.”
