The North Carolina Hospitality Education Foundation awarded $40,000 in scholarships and grant funding to 13 students and one educator during a ceremony in June.
The scholarships, which were awarded during a virtual ceremony on June 24, are for students who seeking a higher education path with a focus on culinary arts, restaurant management or similar fields, or to students whose parents are currently employed in the hospitality industry, the foundation said in a news release about the awards on June 26. Grant funding is provided to educators in those fields.
“One of the goals of our foundation is to attract, educate, and retain a professional workforce for the hospitality industry,” North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association and Hospitality Education Foundation President and CEO Lynn Minges said in the news release. “Because of our industry’s generous donations, these deserving students receive financial support to prepare them for careers in the industry.”
The Hospitality Education Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association and works to cultivate a career-oriented professional workforce for the hospitality industry.
