The City of Winston-Salem North Carolina said that it is offering HUB-certification to businesses that are owned by women and minorities.
Winston-Salem is looking to help women- and minority-owned businesses to get a certification called Historically Underutilized Businesses, the city said in an Aug. 17 press release.
The city created a webinar that takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 26 with a registration deadline set for Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The certification allows businesses to receive greater exposure to business opportunities via state procurement and contracting.
Additionally, HUB-certified businesses are registered in the Vendor Link system. The system is widely used by state agencies, universities, community colleges, local schools, local governments and institutions.
The lists are also utilized by the public to locate historically underutilized businesses. Moreover, each HUB certification is valid for four years and it's free.
The webinar will outline the city's policy for procurement and also discuss opportunities and management practices, and laws.
