City of Thomasville issued the following announcement.

Open Gym

Date and Time: July 29, 2021 08:00 AM - 09:30 AM

COVID-19 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

All guidelines from the DCHHS protocols will be followed including door signage and staff wearing Proper Protective Equipment during the duration of the program. (Masks, gloves, and the 3 W’s will all be followed)

ALL Participants attending will be asked to wear a mask while not actively involved in any activity. 

Open Gym will be for Single-Play Shooting and Walking ONLY!

All participants are REQUIRED to Bring Your Own Basketball.

There will be no more than 20 participants in the gym.

All hard surfaces will be properly sanitized before and after events.

 Anyone who is not feeling well or shows any symptoms will be asked to stay home or not participate.

KNOW YOUR SYMPTOMS!

Our Central Recreation Gym will be open to the public Monday - Friday from 8:00AM to 9:30AM.

Public Open Gym:

During the Public Open Gym listings the usage of the gym will be reserved for individuals to use the gymnasium for basketball shooting, walking and free space. Structured game play of pickleball will be reserved for pickleball play only in the pickleball listing.

Central Recreation Center Gymnasium Rules and Guidelines: 

  • All patrons will need to check in with Recreation Staff upon entering the facility.
  • Gym space and programming will be scheduled by the recreation staff for specific activity times and rules for game play will be posted.
  • Please show courtesy and respect for self, other patrons, and staff at all times.
  • All children under 8 years old are to be accompanied by an adult, 18 years of age or older, at all times.
  • Please wipe your shoes clean before playing on the courts.
  • Black-soled shoes that mark the floor or shoes with wheels or hard soles are not permitted on the gym floor.
  • Dunking or attempting to dunk is prohibited and will result in suspension - this includes grabbing or hanging on the net.
  • In the event of crowded courts, the facility coordinator has the ultimate authority to modify games as needed (Basketball & Pickleball).
  • Please help us keep all gym equipment in the gym.
  • Persons not returning equipment or returning damaged equipment will be responsible for the replacement cost.
  • Abusive or profane language will not be tolerated.
  • Appropriate dress, including shirt and shoes must be worn at all times-all pants and shorts will be worn so that undergarments are not showing.
  • Food, beverage (with the exception of water) and chewing gum are prohibited in the gym area.
  • Rough housing, fighting, and horseplay are prohibited.
  • Only facility staff is allowed to adjust the height of the goals.
  • The Thomasville Parks and Recreation Department is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
  • If you experience any problems, please notify a staff member as soon as possible.
  • All participants in activities play at their own risk and are legally responsible for all damages injury or death to yourself or other persons or property that result from your use of this facility.

The Thomasville Parks and Recreation staff has absolute authority to enforce all rules, notify the proper authorities and/or evict any patron from the premises who does not behave in the appropriate manner.
