Davie County Awarded Excellence In Innovation Award for Mobile Rec Day Programs

3

Davie County issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

The Davie County Recreation & Parks Department received a 2021 Excellence in Innovation Award from the NC Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) at the recent NC Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) conference in New Hanover County. The Excellence in Innovation Awards program received over 50 applications this year that highlighted the great work taking place across North Carolina counties. After a thorough review by county leaders, staff, and previous award winners, NCACC and LGFCU named ten projects as recipients of the 2021 Excellence in Innovation Awards.

Davie County was awarded the Excellence in Innovation Award for its Mobile Rec Day programs; a program organized by the Davie County Recreation and Parks team, traveled across this county to provide youth summer fun opportunities.

“’Innovation is defined as a new method, idea or product – it is crucial to the continuing success of any organization,” said County Manager David Bone. He added, “We had several strong award applications from Davie County this year – all were worthy of an award, but the LGFCU only awards ten Innovation Awards statewide each year.  The Davie County Board of Commissioners and staff are extremely excited and proud of the recognition earned by the Davie County Recreation and Parks staff.  We thank them for their creativity, efforts and innovation.  The entire Davie County staff is focused on ‘raising the bar’ in providing quality services to our community.  We hope to make earning an Innovation Award an annual tradition in Davie County.”
