Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center recently issued the following announcement.
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Lexington Medical Center was once again awarded an “A” in the Fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade survey, a national distinction recognizing the medical center’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. This is the medical center’s fifth consecutive “A” grade. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization driven by employers and other purchasers of health care committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers.
“This high achievement for Lexington Medical Center is a reflection of our drive to continuously improve upon our commitment to provide safe, high quality, patient- and-family-centered care in a compassionate way every day,” said Dale Williams, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Lexington Medical Center. “Some of the prominent contributors to this high rating were specifically attributed to our leadership that supports a culture of safety and implementation of processes that prevents mistakes and reduces infection rates. We also have a team of high quality physicians and teammates who excel in responsiveness and communication with our patients.”
Dr. Williams continued, “We are honored to receive this high achievement and we have now been recognized with an ‘A’ grade for the past five rating periods. This year, given the impact of COVID-19, has been tough on our health care system and community. Our teammates implemented new strategies to directly address patient safety and patient satisfaction, as we battled COVID-19. Additional safety measures have been added to keep our patients and staff members as safe as possible. Therefore, we welcome this measurement that Leapfrog and the many other rating systems offer. We use the rating to understand how we can continuously improve, and we are confident that we are making the right decisions.”
“Five consecutive ‘A’ grades in the Leapfrog survey is no small feat,” said Bill James, President, Lexington Medical Center. “I am very proud of our teammates for their ongoing efforts as health care has faced unprecedented challenges over the past 20 months. We want those in our community to know that we are always committed to delivering safe, high-quality and compassionate care to every patient we encounter. We are proud of our successes and we are confident that by working hard together, we can continue our efforts. We will not let up.”
