On Tuesday, November 23, the Senior Lunchbox activity was a “Dress like Thanksgiving” contest. This meant that anyone could come to the contest and show off their best outfit. Several people participated. Winners included: Caldonia Evans, Lanna Pace, and Diane Cannaday.
Thanksgiving Bingo was a great hit! This event was sponsored by Skyline National Bank and there were 78 people in attendance. Thanksgiving Bingo had several great prizes – one of them being a meat thermometer that was shaped like a turkey and gobbled when the turkey reached the correct temperature. The grand prize winners won brand new kitchenware items. It was a fantastic event! Coming up in December, make plans to join Senior Services for the fantastic Christmas Bingo event on December 16. Please be sure to register in advance. Christmas Bingo will be sponsored by Edward Jones Financial Advisor, Brenda Battle.
On Wednesday, November 24, Davie County Senior Services filled the building with cheer! The Davie County National Honor Society sent twelve students to help decorate and make the building feel like the holiday season. This was a fun afternoon, and Senior Services enjoys the opportunity to have high school aged volunteers always willing to serve the community.
On Monday, November 29, the Senior Lunchbox activity was making Greeting Cards. Susan Connors instructed the participants on how to make the perfect Christmas cards. Several took theirs home and brought back quilted cards to show off their skills. Each month, there are a variety of craft activities before lunch. Be sure to check out the calendar!
On Tuesday, November 30, Allison Brown, Davie County’s Senior Tar Heel Representative, spoke about all of the updates for seniors being done at the state level.
