Enjoy a full day of free fun for the entire family during the annual Oaks Festival in Downtown Mocksville on Saturday, October 8th, beginning at 10 a.m. with music continuing until 7:30 p.m. There will be something for everyone: handcrafted goods, art, food vendors, lots of free kids’ activities, and live concerts all day.
Crafts, food, and the kids’ area will be set up along Main Street and run down West Depot Street leading to the entertainment area and outdoor stage.
Crafts, Christmas Specialties, and Unique Items for Sale
Start your Christmas shopping early, or buy a little something special for yourself as you enjoy the crafts, Christmas specialties, and other original items for sale. Find that “one-of-a-kind” piece of pottery, stained glass, or unique item made from reclaimed wood, or jumpstart your fall decorating with pumpkins, flowers, and handcrafted wreaths and decorations. The vendor area will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Inflatables, Balloons, Face Painting, and Free Make and Take Activities
Kids will enjoy the inflatables, face painting, balloon animals by Michael Decker, and pumpkins to decorate and take home.
Fun Fair-style Food
Eric & Kay’s BBQ will be serving up barbecue, barbecue bowls, spare ribs, hot dogs, and delicious side dishes. For a cool treat, check out Jason’s Italian Ice or Legendary Ice Cream.
Bring Your Lawn Chair and Enjoy Free Concerts – Live Music All Day!
The music starts at 1:30 and continues until 7:30 p.m. at the mobile stage at the end of West Depot. BRING YOUR OWN CHAIR AND NO COOLERS, PLEASE. Food, alcohol, and beverages will be available from vendors at the top of the hill on Depot Street.
1:30 p.m. – Hotwax and the Splinters: fast-paced bluegrass
This bluegrass band has been picking together for over 20 years, and that energy shows as they perform the best bluegrass around the Piedmont area. The ensemble includes Clyde Lewis – mandolin/lead vocals; Ed Renn, guitar/lead vocals; Nathan Farlow, dobro/vocals; Jeff Rumsey, bass/vocals; Jeff Rumsey, Mark Wallace, banjo; and Ryan Lambert, lead guitar. 3:30 p.m. – Poundcake: rock n roll
Get ready to rock! Popular local musicians Kelven Cockerham and Tim Elmore will keep the good times rolling with acoustic favorites from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. You’ll be clapping, tapping, and singing along.
6 p.m. Camel City Yacht Club:
Sail into the evening with the silky stylings of Camel City Yacht Club. Since 2020, these five veteran musicians have been devoted to the art of smooth, bringing the finest soft rock of the 70s and 80s.
