Davie County Senior Services and the Davie Chapter of the NAACP invites the community to attend the annual Black History Month Celebration. This year, the celebration is titled “Then and Now.” Mrs. Alice Garrett Brown will be speaking at this event. Brown, a native of Davie County, attended the Davie County Training School and graduated from Price High School in Salisbury. She was one of six African-American freshmen to enroll in the Woman’s College (now UNC-Greensboro) in 1961. Brown now lives in Mocksville with her husband, Andrew.
The celebration will be held at the Bobby H. Knight Senior Center at 278 Meroney Street in Mocksville on Tuesday, February 21st at 2:00 PM. Please call 336-753-6230 to register for the program.
