Carolina University Softball team continued their impressive performance with a doubleheader sweep against Livingstone College on Wednesday in Salisbury, NC. The victories extended the Bruins' winning streak to seven games as they prepare for upcoming weekend matches.
In the first game, the Lady Bruins quickly took control by scoring one run in the first inning and two more in the third. They capped off their offensive efforts with six runs in the seventh inning, concluding the game with a 13-1 victory. Grace Johnson initiated the scoring with a double, followed by ZyMaijah Thomas who doubled to right field, allowing Johnson to score. Danielle Brooks contributed significantly by pitching all seven innings, achieving six strikeouts without any errors.
The second game saw a slower start but ended with a strong finish for Carolina University. The Bruins scored five of their seven runs in the final inning to secure a 7-5 win. ZyMaijah Thomas delivered a crucial double that brought home two runs, narrowing the gap to 4-5 before Kalea Bolch and Leigha James added further runs to clinch victory.
Leigha James stood out in Game 2 with three RBIs and two doubles, while Kalea Bolch made ten putouts.
