Carolina University Softball team continued their winning streak with a sweep in Saturday's doubleheader against Johnson C. Smith University, extending their run to nine consecutive victories. The Bruins will face Columbia College next week.
The first game ended with a narrow 3-2 win for the Lady Bruins. All three runs were scored in the sixth inning. With two outs and bases loaded, Kourtney Cox hit a double, driving in two runs and securing the victory for her team.
Danielle Brooks pitched seven innings, achieving four strikeouts. Kalea Bolch contributed six defensive putouts, while Kourtney Cox had two RBIs and one double.
In the second game, the Bruins dominated with an 11-1 victory that concluded after five innings due to the run-rule. They scored five runs in the second inning and added four more by the fifth inning. The Golden Bulls' pitching errors allowed three consecutive walks, further increasing the Bruins' lead to 10-1 before Johnson stole home.
Grace Andrews achieved two doubles during this game. Bolch led with three RBIs, while Madison Hamilton pitched all five innings and recorded two strikeouts.
The Lady Bruins are set to play against Columbia College on Monday in Columbia, SC.
