The Carolina University women's volleyball team faced Spartanburg Methodist in their Dig Pink game, held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The match extended to five sets, with the Bruins ultimately falling short against the Pioneers.
In the initial two sets, the Bruins struggled to convert offensive opportunities, losing 21-25 and 11-25. However, they regained their rhythm in the third set with a victory of 25-17 and continued their momentum into the fourth set, securing it at 25-18. This turnaround was marked by impressive service runs and solid serve receive that allowed them to effectively utilize their middles for attacks. Hayley Stull recorded eight kills while Syvannah Poore contributed 15 assists during this phase.
The decisive fifth set saw Spartanburg Methodist take an early lead of 4-0 before a timeout was called. Despite a missed serve from the Pioneers offering the Bruins a chance to initiate a service run and some outstanding defensive plays from their libero, Carolina University could not overcome their opponents and lost the final set 9-15.
Carolina University's women's volleyball team is scheduled to play Bob Jones on November 5th at 5:00 PM in what will be their last regular-season match.
