The Davie County Tourism and Town of Mocksville Tourism annual grant cycles are now open for 2023 and both non-profit and for-profit organizations are invited to apply.
Grant Seekers Can Apply for Both Grants
This year, Davie Chamber President Caroline Moser and Mocksville Community Development Director Tami Langdon want to make sure that applicants understand that they can apply for grants from both organizations.
“By applying to both Davie County and Mocksville Tourism, you will gain financial leverage toward your event which enhances economic gains for both the County and the Town of Mocksville plus creates a tourism destination,” said Langdon.
Davie County Tourism Promotes County-Wide Initiatives
The Davie Chamber promotes the community through county-wide tourism initiatives (visit the Discover Davie County website!) and is home to the Davie County Visitor Center which is filled with free regional brochures and maps.
Moser explained that a large portion of the Chamber’s tourism budget, funded through the county’s hotel occupancy tax, goes directly to support local organizations that “help make Davie County the unique place that we all know and love” through tourism grants. “Over the years we have had the opportunity to support dozens of special organizations and programs.”
Grant applications are reviewed by the Davie County Tourism Advisory Board which serves to assist with the development and marketing of Davie County’s tourism attractions, assets, and potential tourism sites; and to encourage the economic development of Davie County through travel and tourism. The advisory board is comprised of Davie County business leaders who provide their experience and support.
Mocksville Tourism Welcomes Proposals That Attract Visitors to Mocksville
Each year, Downtown Mocksville hosts a wealth of concerts, outdoor movies, festivals, and special events. But the Mocksville Tourism Development Authority (MTDA) also welcomes grant proposals for special projects and events that are designed to attract visitors to Downtown Mocksville as well as Davie County.
“If your event encourages folks to come to Downtown and Davie County, share your idea and see if we can assist with some financial support. We want more visitors as well as our local citizens to enjoy the many amenities of our retail, restaurants, and services in Downtown Mocksville for a day, evening, or weekend,” Langdon said.
The grants are funded through the Town’s portion of the county’s hotel occupancy tax and are reviewed by the MTDA which assists with the development and marketing of Mocksville’s tourism attractions, assets, and potential tourism sites. The MTDA board is made up of a representative of the Mocksville Town Board and Davie County Tourism, as well as Mocksville business owners and leaders.
Some of the events and organizations receiving Davie County Tourism or Mocksville Tourism grant support in the past include the RiverWalk Arts Festival, concerts at Davie County Community Park, a food truck rodeo, Cycling Davie events, COGNITION Davie, the Park at Lake Louise, and RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls.
