Carolina University baseball splits weekend series against Toccoa Falls

Carolina University hosted a three-part baseball series against Toccoa Falls, starting Friday night and concluding Saturday afternoon. The games also marked Senior Day, honoring the 2024 graduating class of Carolina University athletes.

In the series opener, the Bruins fell to the Screaming Eagles with a score of 5-12. Despite scoring four runs in the fifth inning, they could not close the gap. Alejandro Rodriguez hit a double, and Tanner Bray contributed with an RBI single. Paxton Tucker's sacrifice fly brought another runner home, and Bryan Deegan added a double with an RBI.

The second game on Saturday saw the Bruins again struggling against Toccoa Falls, ending with a 6-13 loss. The team managed five runs before the third inning but could not maintain momentum.

The Bruins secured victory in the final game of the series, defeating Toccoa Falls 9-6. Alexiel Delgado was instrumental with a home run and four RBIs. Tanner Bray also made significant contributions with three RBIs and five putouts.

Jovany Mendez and Drew Holcombe pitched for Carolina University in this series. Mendez achieved three strikeouts over six innings.

Looking ahead, Carolina University will face Bluefield State University at home next Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 PM.
