Carolina University women's basketball narrowly defeated by Spartanburg Methodist

The Carolina University Women's Basketball team faced a challenging game against Spartanburg Methodist College, resulting in an 83-74 loss on Tuesday night. The match was tightly contested, with the score tied at 66 late in the fourth quarter. However, Spartanburg Methodist managed to pull ahead with a decisive 10-2 run.

Spartanburg Methodist, now holding a record of 4-10, saw five players scoring in double figures. Najah Gilliam led the team with 19 points. The Pioneers shot 44.4% from the field and successfully made 20 free throws during the game.

For Carolina University, which now stands at 8-6 for the season, Keyani Jackson was a standout performer with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. Felesia Ondongo contributed significantly off the bench with 19 points, while Le'Asia Matthews and Bianca Gonzalez each scored 12 points.

Throughout the fourth quarter, the game remained competitive with five ties and six lead changes. Despite this back-and-forth battle, Spartanburg Methodist capitalized on key turnovers and crucial shots to secure their victory.

Carolina University's next game is scheduled at home on January 9th at 2:00 PM against Mid Atlantic Christian University.
