Carolina University volleyball splits matches with win over Averett, loss to Roanoke

Carolina University's Men's Volleyball team participated in a doubleheader at the Cregger Center in Salem, VA, on March 29, 2025. The team managed to split their matches by winning against Averett University but were defeated by Roanoke College.

The first match saw Carolina University secure a victory over Averett University with a scoreline of 3-1, finishing the sets at 25-21, 25-14, 19-25, and 25-22. Jashawn Sykes led with 17 kills and 19.5 points, and Jamison Johnson added 13 kills to the effort. Kai Jamerson provided 39 assists, contributing to the team's total of 52 kills and an attack percentage of .129. Averett University recorded 34 kills with a .073 attack percentage.

In contrast, the team struggled in their second match, suffering a loss to Roanoke College in straight sets, with scores of 25-19, 25-12, and 25-14. Carolina University achieved only 27 kills, with a negative attack percentage of -.097. Sykes and Johnson were limited to 5 and 2 kills, respectively, while Jamerson offered 9 assists. Roanoke College presented a solid performance, attaining 41 kills and a .317 attack percentage.

Following this performance, the Bruins are set to host the AAC Pod on April 4-5, facing off against Life University and Talladega College.
