Carolina University splits doubleheader against Ohio Christian at Truist Field

Carolina University faced Ohio Christian in a doubleheader at Truist Field, with both teams showing strong performances. The Bruins narrowly lost the first game but managed to secure a victory in the second.

In Game 1, Ohio Christian took advantage of early opportunities. Z. Gomersall stole home in the third inning after an error, and R. Evans and K. Runk contributed key hits during a four-run fourth inning, giving Ohio Christian a 5-0 lead. Another run was added in the fifth due to a wild pitch, extending their lead to 6-0.

Carolina responded with determination in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs. R. Smith hit a two-RBI triple, Jase Brooks had an RBI single, and Alexis Fontanez delivered a crucial two-run hit. Despite loading the bases in the final inning, Carolina couldn't tie the game and lost 6-5. Kaleb Whitaker (1-3) took the loss for Carolina, while R. Clark (1-0) earned the win for Ohio Christian with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief.

Key players for Carolina included Robbie Smith with a triple and two RBIs, Jase Brooks with an RBI single, and Alexis Fontanez with two RBIs. For Ohio Christian, R. Evans went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

In Game 2, Carolina started strong by taking an early lead with runs from Jacob Ananias' RBI single and Peyton Banks' two-RBI single during a five-run third inning outburst that also featured Abraham Leal's contributions.

Ohio Christian fought back in the fifth inning when M. Keener hit a two-RBI triple as part of their four-run rally; they added another run in sixth reducing deficit to one point but were unable overcome Jamie Winecoff who closed out game securing save ensuring Bruins’ victory at scoreline of seven-six Michael Dressendorfer recorded win pitching four solid innings whereas T Olon suffered defeat

Looking ahead both teams will meet again on March fifteenth for another doubleheader scheduled twelve pm followed by second match at Mando Field Mocksville
