The Carolina University Women's Volleyball team is preparing for the upcoming 2023 season with renewed determination. Last year, under the guidance of Head Coach Chelsea Jones and Assistant Coach Elly Hicks, the team adopted the motto "our game, our way," aiming to make history. This season, they plan to build on their past achievements while striving for new milestones.

In 2022, the Lady Bruins celebrated their NCCAA South Regional Championship and received the program's first-ever NCCAA Scholar Team award. They also earned Carolina University's inaugural United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. Despite these accomplishments, the team remains focused on future goals, particularly winning a set at Nationals.

This season's leadership includes seniors Kamra King, Rebecca Walker, and Sarah Pickett. King reached her 1,000th career assist last year and was selected for the NCCAA South All-Region team. Walker brings energy and consistency to defense as last season's "Our Way" Award winner. Pickett provides leadership and versatility as last season's "Team Above Self" Award winner.

The Bruins' recruiting class features several new players: Desirae Pisano from Greeley, CO; Britney Comolli from Hereford, AZ; Emma-Grace Dubuc from Broadway, NC; Camilla Garner from High Point, NC; Mariangel Montenegro Del Cid from La Ceibe, Honduras; Shyanne Murphy from San Antonio, TX; Coree Parker from High Point, NC; Erica Pasa from Venice, Italy; Syvannah Poore from Grand Prairie, TX; and SarahElizabeth Samuels from San Antonio, TX.

Coach Jones expressed excitement about the upcoming season: "Elly and I are anxious to get the season started," she said. "The energy of the team is already growing, and our connection on the court is getting stronger every day."

The Bruins will host a Blue-Gold Scrimmage in Williams Gymnasium on August 15 before starting their regular season against Montreat College on August 29 at 6:30 p.m. Fans can support them in person or via live stats/stream on cubruins.com.
